KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O dumped off air after bleep button gets stuck

Listeners tuning into the show had to endure a lengthy delay, after a swearing incident and technical malfunction saw the duo dumped from the airwaves.

Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson were unceremoniously dumped off air after a swearing incident led to a technical malfunction on Wednesday morning.

The duo were interviewing comedian and actor Jim Jefferies about 9.30am when listeners were treated to seven seconds of a single-note hold tone.

Later, a prerecorded voiceover reintroduced the duo back onto the show.

“The station you’ve been listening to has been dumped. This means someone has said something inappropriate and is currently getting in trouble. The broadcast will return in seconds,” the voice over said.

When the pair finally returned to air, Jackie O revealed Kyle had sworn, explaining to listeners her co-host had told “harmonica boy [Jefferies] to ‘eff off’ and then suddenly the bleep button got stuck,” she said.

As producers attempted to ‘bleep’ the swear word, the button got stuck for seven seconds, which explained the prolonged tone.

Although the show resumed as normal, Jackie revealed the pair had to continue to do the show live and without a delay.

“There’s no delay anymore, guys, so I’m very nervous with both Jim and Kyle, live,” she said.

Sandilands recently returned to work after welcoming his first child with 35-year-old fiancee Tegan Kynaston – a boy named Otto.

The radio star was forced to leave mid-show, after receiving news his partner had gone into labour.

Later, he gave listeners a graphic account of his son’s first moments out of the womb.

“Otto’s born, Otto’s fabulous. I cut the cord, I didn’t realise it was like tough calamari and blood spurted out. I was the first person to touch him, he sh*t himself, poo was oozing out,” he said.
