Have you ever wanted to sing out loud to your favourite movie at the cinema without fear of offending fellow moviegoers? Well, now you can. Festival of Voices and State Cinema present four hit films — Grease, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Greatest Showman — in sing-along format. Each movie will feature a surprise musical support act (to get you warmed up). Tickets are $25 adults, $19 children. Or see all four movies for $80. WEDNESDAY

ETHEL CHOP

Jokers Comedy Club, 8pm

Things could get a bit cranky when Australia’s favourite octogenarian returns to Jokers Comedy Club. The alter ego of award-winning actor, author, director and comedian Andrea Powell — Ethel Chop — has been getting annoyed and disappointed by young people, and life in general, for years, as a regular guest on Triple J, Austereo radio and ABC TV. Tickets are $23 pre-sale (plus booking fee) or $25 at the door. 20 New Town Rd, New Town. jokerscomedy.com.au

THURSDAY

PUB CHOIR

Hobart City Hall, 6.30pm

Pack yourself into City Hall with up to 1100 strangers, learn a song in three-part harmony in 90 minutes, and then have your performance immortalised on video forever. No auditions, no solos, no commitments, no sheet music, no worries. Pub Choir is equal parts comedy, beer, and musical genius. 18+ event. Tickets are $30. Doors open at 6pm, event starts at 6.30pm. The event is part of the Festival of Voices, which runs until July 14. festivalofvoices.com
