A “SURREAL” artistic broadcast from The Unconformity will connect global viewers with a small town on Tasmania’s west coast.

The biennial The Unconformity festival has popularly brought place-based performances and installations to the rivers and mining quarries of Queenstown.

Artistic director Travis Tiddy said though this year’s festival has been postponed to next year, his team were eager to conjure another experiment for their global audience.

“UNTV is our attempt to still connect with them and broadcast the west coast direct to loungerooms around the world with TV shows and content that is really conveying what the west coast is,” he said.

Mr Tiddy said the stream will aim to keep Queenstown front-of-mind for people when borders eventually reopen.

“Prime time” UNTV director Shaun Wilson described the project as “a broadcast of a strange, anachronistic nature emanating from some point in the 90s”.

“The ideal thing is if you can grab a few people and gather round at your house on your couch together,” he said.

Performers include Tasmanian Bryony Geeves and Matt Burton, who shot most of his scenes from his bedroom in Melbourne.

The event will only stream once and will not be replayed later. To stream UNTV tune in at 7pm on October 17 via The Unconformity YouTube channel.
