THIS year’s Taste of Tasmania will feature an upgraded outdoor “Paddock” area with a beer garden feel, and 16 new stalls.
The state’s biggest annual summer event will kick off on Hobart’s waterfront on December 28 and run till January 3.
The new-look Paddock at the southern end of PW1 has a shaded structure and artificial turf. The stage will move closer to PW1 alongside an open wall.
There will be 63 stallholders, occupying 69 sites throughout PW1, the Paddock, Salamanca Lawns and Parliament House Lawns.
Hobart City Council Alderman Damon Thomas said the Taste of Tasmania was proud to showcase new and innovative food and beverage producers.
There would be a “bigger line-up of entertainment than ever before,” Ald Thomas said.
As reported by the Mercury, the Taste will also go cashless this year as part of a one-year trial, with patrons needing to produce a personal debit or credit card to buy food and drink. A free Taste Prepaid card will be available which can be pre-loaded with a cash amount.
