FASHIONISTAS and racing fans are getting ready for the biggest day of the year in racing, with Tassie’s own races set to draw in the crowds.
This year’s Elwick Racecourse Melbourne Cup Luncheon has persevered despite the uncertain year of COVID-19, with a huge fashion show on the cards.
Models from Majestic’s Modelling and Grooming Workshops will be dressed to the nines by Dotti Eastlands and Miss Haidee Millinery, while members of the public can vie for up to $300 in best dressed prizes.
Event manager Nadine Patmore said attendees would be spoiled for choice with live racing on the day and big screens displaying the action from the Melbourne Cup track.
“It’s a buzz, most people come simply for the racing, then you’ve got the side entertainment,” she said.
“The menu is beautiful, it’s three courses and all Tassie inspired.”
Ms Patmore said the entree trio plate will contains a wallaby fillet, glazed duck breast and a pumpkin, pepper and parmesan fritter while “top of the range” Josef Chromy Wines will flow through the day.
Raffles and silent auctions will keep the masses entertained from when the gates open at 10am.
General admission tickets are still available for the event at Glenorchy, with all inclusive Luncheon tickets valued between $150 and $165.
