DAY on the Lawn has a history of bringing some of music’s biggest names to the state, and the next instalment of the festival will be no different.
Day on the Lawn has brought big names like Something for Kate, Grinspoon and Ocean Alley to the state over the years since it began in 2017.
Indie rocker Courtney Barnett has brought her poignant and witty tunes to festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza, and she is bringing them to Tasmania for a run next March.
The next iteration of the festival will feature Grammy nominee, 2015 Australian Music Prize winner and ARIA winner Barnett as the headline act.
Barnett lived in Tasmania during her mid to late teens and has previously said “it feels to me like home is there”. She has released beloved songs Avant Gardener, Rae Street and Before You Gotta Go.
The folk-inspired songstress will be joined by rock trio DMA’s, responsible for Platinum record Delete and hits Step Up the Morphine and Lay Down.
Day on the Lawn organiser Brendan Self said a stack of local artists would join the line-up.
“We are thrilled to have two amazing Australian live acts on this year’s line-up who haven’t been down to Tassie for a while,” he said.
The all-ages event is also expected to showcase quality Tasmanian wine, craft beers and food.
Mr Self said the most recent festival sold out fast and was a “really enjoyable event”.
This event will return to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens from 3pm-10.30pm on March 19.
Presale tickets will be available for the all-ages event from 8am one Tuesday, while general sale will begin at 8am on Wednesday.
