THE first release of a crowd funded product, Small Island Wine, has almost sold out in the first three days of the Taste of Tasmania.
Young Hobart winemaker James Broinowski raised almost $14,000 to make his first pinot noir under his own label earlier this year.
Draining 250 litres off the pinot noir ferment he has created a limited release rose in a southern French style.

Mr Broinowski said he was delighted with the response so far to the rose and was looking forward to the pinot being ready soon.
“It’s very fitting for the Taste because it is that dry, fun, easy-drinking style designed to compliment conversation and food,” he said.
Supporters of Small Island Wines have been following its progress via email and social media.
“Part of the reward for the crowd funding was to take people on a journey to show them literally from grape to glass and that’s ongoing,” Mr Broinowski said.
“Eventually you will have a bottle of wine posted out to you and you’ll have the whole story of every step of the process.”
Mr Broinowski has travelled the world learning about wine.
