Crown Prince Frederik goes solo again after socialite’s affair denial

Crown Prince Frederik – sans Princess Mary – hosted Vietnam’s Vice President in Copenhagen as more details emerged about his night with a Mexican socialite.

Prince Frederik has ploughed ahead with royal duties solo amid the fallout of a furious affair denial by a glamorous socialite.

The 55-year-old Danish royal hosted Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan at the Amalienborg Castle in Copenhagen on Wednesday local time.

Posing for photos with the Vice President the royal appeared relaxed despite the media storm that continues to engulf him.

Affair rumours began after photos were published in Spanish magazine Lecturas of his night out in Madrid with glamorous Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova – without his Australian-born wife Princess Mary.

Earlier in the week, Prince Frederik was seen smiling as he hosted the traditional royal hunt in Denmark’s Central Jutland region.

The future king of Denmark looked relaxed as he chatted with Danish politician Finn Poulsen of the Conservative People’s Party at the event, held at the Gludsted Plantage near Silkeborg.

He wore a heavy jacket by the Swedish hunting brand Harkila, topped with a traditional hat.

The royal hunts are the official hunts of the Royal House, which take place during the hunting season from October 1 to mid January in the Danish state forests.

He and Crown Princess Mary have not been photographed together since they attended a ceremony marking their son Prince Christian’s signing of the declaration of the constitution after his 18th birthday, a traditional event for future Danish monarchs.

It came after the woman who denies having an affair with the Danish royal broke her silence with an emotional Instagram post.

Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova paid tribute to her late mother-in-law the Duchess of Alba, the Spanish aristocrat, on the ninth anniversary of her death.

“I miss you so, so much … your affection, your sense of humour, your motherly way of caring and taking care of us,” Ms Casanova wrote.

“How I wish you never left. Even though sometimes you still sit here next to me.”

Casanova, who has categorically denied having any romantic relationship with the husband of Australia’s Crown Princess Mary, was previously married to the late aristocrat’s son, Cayetano Martinez de Irujo.

Casanova and the Spanish equestrian divorced in 2007 after just two years but have remained close.

The 47-year-old is staying at her ex-husband’s house in San Sebastian, in the north of Spain, as the fallout from images of the pair continues.

Spanish magazine Hola! reported that Casanova was photographed out on a walk with her dogs while staying at the mansion.

In photos first published by Spanish magazine Lecturas, father-of-four Crown Prince Frederik was pictured spending time with Ms Casanova during a long catch-up in Madrid.

Now, new images published by Lecturas purportedly show the full sequence of the events surrounding the pair’s meeting.

The magazine claims Prince Frederik was pictured leaving Ms Casanova’s apartment the morning after a night out in Madrid.

Denmark’s future king then walked from Ms Casanova’s apartment to a nearby bus stop before making a phone call, the magazine claimed.

He waited for a few minutes before being picked up by a car from the Danish embassy and taken to the airport, the magazine reported.

Earlier, the pair were snapped strolling through the famed El Retiro Park after visiting the exhibition Picasso: The Sacred and the Profane.

The magazine claimed the pair then headed separately to Ms Casanova’s apartment where they changed clothes before emerging for dinner and a flamenco performance.

It is claimed the pair left the restaurant at 1am and got into a car before Crown Prince Frederik was spotted leaving the apartment the next morning.
