Truth behind Prince Frederik cheating scandal

The woman who has denied having an affair with Crown Prince Frederik is staying at her ex-husband’s house as the fallout from images of the pair continues.

Spanish magazine Hola! reports that socialite Genoveva Casanova, who celebrated her 47th birthday last week and recently appeared on Spain’s version of Celebrity Masterchef, was photographed out on a walk while staying in San Sebastian in the north of Spain amid the fallout from the images of her with the husband of Australian-born Princess Mary.

The magazine claimed Ms Casanova is staying with her two dogs at the Palace of Arbaizenea, a property that belongs to her ex-husband Cayetano Martinez de Irujo, a Spanish equestrian who is the son of the Duchess of Alba.

Pictures of Crown Prince Frederik with Ms Casanova have rocked the Danish royals, putting the 19-year marriage of Australia’s Crown Princess Mary and her husband under the spotlight and prompting the Mexican socialite to issue a furious denial amid claims of an affair.

In photos first published by Spanish magazine Lecturas, Crown Prince Frederik can be seen spending hours in Madrid with the glamorous Ms Casanova during a lengthy catch-up that included a stroll in a park and a visit to an art exhibition.

After a long day out, the magazine claimed the pair then arrived separately at Ms Casanova’s apartment before emerging to head out to dinner and a flamenco performance having changed clothes.

It is claimed the pair left the restaurant at 1am and got into a car before Crown Prince Frederik was spotted leaving the apartment the next morning.

Following the publication of the photos, Ms Casanova issued a furious denial that there was any romantic relationship between herself and Denmark’s future king.

Despite the drama, Denmark’s future king has forged ahead with solo royal duties, hosting a gathering of the judging panel for a top Danish sports award at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen.

The Danish royals have not commented on the images and this week forged ahead with royal duties.

In her latest appearance, the Tasmanian-born Mary was pictured with her husband as they marked a precious family milestone.

In official photos shared on Instagram, Mary and Crown Prince Frederik were pictured standing side-by-side as their eldest son, Prince Christian, marked a major step towards becoming the king of Denmark.

The 18-year-old was photographed with his proud parents and grandmother, Queen Margrethe, after signing the declaration of the constitution at the Council of State, which is a rite of passage for future Danish monarchs.

Prince Christian made a “solemn declaration that he would comply with the constitution”. This formal promise to uphold the country’s constitution is an important step forward in his journey as a king-in-waiting.

“It is a prerequisite that the Prince will be able to be appointed as the Governor in the event that both Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Crown Prince are prevented from leading the government,” a social media post from the royal house explained.

When contacted by News Corp Australia, Amber Petty, a close friend of Crown Princess Mary who acted as bridesmaid at the royal wedding, said she could not comment.
