Queen Mary’s second solo royal engagement in days

The Aussie-born royal smiled and dressed down as she stepped out for her second royal engagement without Frederik in days.

Queen Mary has made a second solo appearance in days as questions swirl over whether she skipped a planned trip with her husband Prince Frederik.

The Australian-born royal, 52, dressed down in a knit jumper, Seeland Cottage Quilt Lady Waistcoat and large-brimmed hat as she opened a Deer Park at Dyrehaven north of Copenhagen.

Mary’s appearance without Frederik comes amid speculation she skipped a private family trip over Easter after the royal flag remained raised over the royal residence, Amalienborg Castle. The flag indicates a member of the royal family is in attendance.

This has only fuelled concerns about the couple’s marriage, after Spanish magazine Lecturas published photos of Frederik with glamorous Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova.

Concerns aside, Mary appeared relaxed as she smiled and chatted to fans on Sunday.

Together with Environment Minister Magnus Heunicke, the royal helped release two deer in the new part of the zoo.

The visit was shared on the Danish royal family’s Instagram account.

“Dyrehaven north of Copenhagen contains many hundreds of years of history with grazing deer game – and today new history was written when Her Majesty the Queen helped release two deer in the new part of Dyrehaven,” the post read.

It continued: “Around 116 endangered species live here, including the oak tongue mushroom, the black woodpecker and various kinds of bats.”

The aim is for the species on the site to be able to spread out as the area is expanded.

Mary also unveiled His Majesty the King’s monogram on the Zoo’s red gate, as dictated by tradition when there is a change of throne.

The occasion marked Mary’s second solo engagement in a matter of days.

On April 3 she visited the Home Guard in Churchillparken, Copenhagen to mark the 75th anniversary.

Mary presented service medals to soldiers before touring the nearby Freedom Museum.
