Prince Harry and Meghan labelled ‘hypocrites’ over latest move

Fans and critics have labelled the royal pair “hypocrites” for asking the public to “do as we say, not as we do.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been criticised for using a private jet to spend time with their Hollywood friends.

The royals flew in a Gulfstream jet with fellow A-listers Cameron Diaz, her husband Benji Madden, and actress Zoe Saldana to see Katy Perry’s final show of her Las Vegas residency at Resorts World Theatre.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, both dressed in black, took in the Teenage Dream star’s performance from the VIP section.

According to reports, Hollywood producer David Katzenberg, and billionaire and Bumble dating app founder Whitney Wolfe Herd, and her husband, oil heir Michael Herd, were also on the 40-minute flight.

The couple have since been labelled “hypocrites” for flying on a private jet while encouraging the general public to work on lowering their carbon emissions.

“He set up this Travalyst charity which was all about not using private planes,” royal biographer Angela Levin told the Sun. “He’s still their patron. I think he should get the sack.”

She continued: “They think they have gotten so grand, they wouldn’t dream of taking a normal flight. They’ve got all these rich friends to pay for it. It’s worse than ‘do as I say, not as I do’ because he’s a patron of a charity.”

Royal fans on X also hit back at the couple, with one tweeting: “Not exactly saving the environment for their children!!!!!!!!”

Another agreed, saying: “Do as I say not as I do,” while a third added: “The hypocrites are at it again … how long before they start the climate lectures again?”

Harry is previously opened up regarding the criticism surrounding his choice to still use private jets.

In 2019, he claimed that it was due to safety concerns, saying: “Occasionally, there needs to be an opportunity [to fly on private planes] based on a unique circumstance to ensure that my family are safe – it’s as simple as that.”

“For me, it’s about balance. It’s not a decision I would want to take, but if I have to do that, I will ensure that I balance out the impact that I have,” he added.
