Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to throw ‘all-American’ second birthday party for Lilibet

The second birthday party for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s youngest child is set to include celebrity friends. But will King Charles make an appearance?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to throw an “all-American” party to mark their youngest child’s second birthday.

Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana’s big day will no doubt include a guest list of celebrities and hopefully an appearance from her grandfather, King Charles.
“I would expect to see a sprinkling of celebrities and a laid-back party, which hopefully will include some other toddlers,” royal expert and journalist Jennie Bond told Britain's OK! Magazine.

“It would be nice to think the day might include a video call to Lilibet’s grandfather, King Charles, and hopefully some sort of gift has been arranged and will be delivered to Montecito for her birthday”.

Lilibet was born in Santa Barbara, California, where the couple moved after deciding to decamp from Britain and leave official royal life.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also have a son together, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, 4, who was born in London.

Archie was born on May 6, which just happened to fall on the day King Charles was officially coronated after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96.

Prince Harry stayed just 24 hours in the United Kingdom to attend the ceremony, reportedly racing back in time for his son’s birthday.

During a private family gathering after the coronation, King Charles reportedly gave a toast to wish the four year old a happy birthday “wherever he was,” according to the New York Post.

Lilibet has only been to the United Kingdom once, for the celebrations surrounding the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Last year, the couple hosted Lilibet’s first birthday party at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, a gathering that sources said was “relaxed” and “informal.”

“It was a lovely do and had everything you’d expect from a child’s birthday party,” a source told The Sun. “But there was no formal entertainment. The idea was for it to be very relaxed and casual, with people free to pop in and out as they wished.”

The family was reportedly joined by Harry’s first cousin Zara Tindall’s three children – Mia, 8, Lena, 3, and Lucas, 1 – and his other first cousin Peter Phillips’ daughters, Savannah, 11, and Isla, 10.

A pink two-tiered cake decorated with peonies was served outdoors.

On March 3, Prince Harry and Markle hosted an intimate christening for Lilibet at their home in Montecito.

One insider revealed that there were about 20 to 30 guests at the small gathering, and after the ceremony, they celebrated with a meal and an afternoon of dancing.

Among those who reportedly attended were Lilibet’s godfather, filmmaker Tyler Perry, an anonymous godmother, as well as Markle’s mother Doria Ragland.
