Hugh Jackman’s rumoured new girlfriend Sutton Foster gushed that working with him was a “dream come true” during a resurfaced interview while they were co-starring in a Broadway musical.
The actors – who played the romantic leads in The Music Man from late 2021 until early last year – sat down for a joint appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote the show in May 2022.
“The show is so joyful, and I’m having the time of my life playing opposite this guy,” Foster, 49, told the late night host.
“You had to say that, but thank you,” Jackman, 56, teased her.
“I did!” Foster added. “But it’s like — it’s a dream come true. Truly.”
The two also admitted that they were “intimidated” by each other when they started working together.
“Yes. You’re Hugh Jackman,” Foster told the Australian actor during the interview.
“And then our names are really big on a giant billboard. And I was like, ‘Oh God, that’s gonna cost a lot of money when they have to replace me.’ … But I was pretty convinced I was going to be fired for several weeks.”
Meanwhile, Jackman confirmed he’d felt the same way – and had seen “everything” Foster had ever appeared in.
“This is a six-time Tony nominee, two-time winner,” the actor pointed out.
“I saw her do Thoroughly Modern Millie when you were like 4 years old. But I’ve watched everything she’s done. It’s amazing. And I’m the guy who, in my first show, Beauty and the Beast, it was in my contract that I had to have singing lessons once a week.”
The resurfaced interview comes after it was reported that Jackman and Foster are “in love” but have been keeping the romance under wraps.
“They spend all of their free time together,” a source told Page Six. “They are a regular couple, they are just in private.” The insider added that “they sneak around” to keep the relationship out of the public eye.
“They are 100 per cent together and are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together,” another source told the publication.
“They go out of their way to hide it, but it’s common knowledge.”
It emerged last week that Foster had filed for divorce from her husband of a decade, Ocean’s Eleven screenwriter Ted Griffin, with whom she shares an adopted daughter.
Meanwhile, Jackman and fellow Australian actress Deborra-Lee Furness announced their separation after 27 years of marriage in a joint statement released last September.
“We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” their message read.
“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth. “Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.”
