Australian Survivor’s tense tribal councils continued in Monday night’s episode, with former Home And Away actress Sharni Vinson dramatically ousted from the Heroes tribe.

Vinson had been a quiet presence on the tribe so far this season, but she found herself in the centre of the conversation at tribal council after tribemate Paige appeared to blame her for the tribe losing the latest immunity challenge.

“First I’ve heard of it,” Sharni said, to which Paige shot back: “I don’t give a f**k, I’ll say what I want to say.”

Fellow tribemate, author Benjamin Law, then said he’d heard whispers that the challenge had been “thrown” – that is, that Sharni had deliberately failed.

Then he was out of his seat, walking to the other end of the tribal council to whisper to his teammates and urge them to write Sharni’s name.

“Paige is right. Sharni is a snake. I’m using an idol to protect all of us.”

Sensing she was in trouble, Sharni railed against her tribemates, calling them out for lying and being disloyal.

“Loyalty is earned … loyalty is reciprocated,” Law responded, urging the rest of the tribe to side with him.

And while not all of them did, Ben played his immunity idol, meaning the six votes he copped didn’t count, and Sharni’s five votes sent her home.

Speaking after her elimination, she was clearly smarting at how it had all unfolded.

“I’m a little bit shocked at just how the tribal council unfolded. Ben’s a very smart guy, and whatever he said was to save his own a**e tonight. It’s not the way I would feel proud about playing the game … but good luck to him.”

Vinson’s departure came an episode after perhaps the most chaotic tribal council in Australian Survivor history, as George expertly blindsided his rivals on the Villains tribe and sent Fraser packing.

There’s been controversy off-screen this season too, with some fans of the franchise expressing outrage after “Heroes” tribe member Paige was exposed as a trophy hunter.

Australian Survivor: Heroes v Villains continues 7.30pm Tuesday on Ten
