Ms Mills had previously fallen down flight of stairs in Bali in 2023, which resulted in a devastating bleed on the brain.

A highly-regarded DJ, Ms Mills had worked at some of Melbourne’s biggest nightspots, including Metropol, Cushion, Secret Garden, Hotel Barkley and Motel Eve.

Kiani Mills told the Herald Sun her sister was a “bright shining star”.

“The most beautiful thing we have been able to do for the last couple of days is sit and reminisce about the incredible life that she lived and how full her life was,” she said.

“She was full of adventure and never said no to an opportunity. She would drive hours and hours just to DJ for one hour.

“She would fly across the country to do the job she loved so passionately and to her it wasn’t a job, it was a life.

“Being behind those decks was her sense of freedom and we got to see her light up rooms.

“I hope she is proud of what she is done because we are proud of what she has done.”

Ms Mills’ mum Diane described her as “beautiful, big-hearted happy and go lucky”.

“She lived life to the fullest,” Diane told 9News.

Ms Mills’ death has been ruled as a tragic accident.

Her father Andrew Mills described his daughter as a “free spirit”.

“From an early age, Courtney was a bit of a free spirit,” he said.

“She took on my love of music and was her own free being.

“I’ve always loved her spirit and I always will.”

Ms Mills had spent several years living in Bali and thought of the Indonesian island as her second home, before eventually returning to Melbourne to be with her family.

She was involved in a tragedy less than two years ago when she fell down a flight of stairs in Bali, resulting in bleeding in the brain.

The model was also involved in a scooter crash which left her and her ex-boyfriend severely injured back in 2018 while she was in Bali for a wedding.

The musician was well known around the Melbourne DJ scene before launching an international career.

Just five days before she passed away, Ms Mills had shared a clip of herself wearing a bright pink bikini dancing the 90s hit Barbie Girl and blowing a kiss to her fans.

Her sudden death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from friends, followers and the entertainment industry.

“Reading that yesterday broke my heart.”

A cremation ceremony will be held in Bali on Wednesday.

“This place was her second home, so we wish to honour her and leave a part of her here,” her sister Kiani wrote online.

“We will then return home with her ashes, to celebrate her life, Courtney style, in Melbourne.”
