TEG, an Australian global leader in live entertainment, sport, ticketing and data has ramped its growth trajectory with the acquisition two international sports businesses, Left Field Live and Rugby Live.
TEG has worked with the Melbourne-based boutique sports marketing agency Left Field Live since 2014.
TEG Group chief executive Geoff Jones said the team at Left Field Live have been partners for many years and they have worked with them to bring some of the world’s most high profile sporting events and teams to Australia.
“TEG’s continued growth in sport will be accelerated by bringing our long term partners formally into the broader TEG Group,” he said.
“Today’s announcement shows our focus and commitment to expand the TEG business from our market leading position in Asia more deeply into the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.”
TEG, which is headquarted in Sydney, would not comment on the details of the acquisition. Left Field Live has 15 employees and Rugby Live six which are based in London, Auckland and Melbourne. There will be no redundancies.
Left Field Live specialises in delivering events across a range of sports including elite football, ice hockey, basketball, college football and baseball, into markets spanning
Australia, North America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
Left Field Live is also a co-founder and 50 per cent shareholder in the global sports industry leadership summit SportNXT. Rugby Live was formed in 2021 after a management buyout of the rugby business from Left Field Live.
Left Field Live chief executive Bart Campbell said TEG has been a valued and trusted partner.
“As our businesses have grown together, forming mutual interdependencies, we have really seen our teams become one. We now have a great opportunity to further refine that and build on the quality pipeline we have secured for the future,” he said.
The acquisitions will see Left Field Live absorbed into TEG Sport. Rugby Live will rebrand as TEG Rugby Live and will continue with its existing management team within TEG Sport.
New Zealand-based Rugby Live managing director Stephen Cottrell said they were thrilled to now have full access to the geographical reach and support of TEG and the TEG Sport team.
