Wall Street's major indexes closed down with the S&P 500 shedding 0.4 per cent, the Dow Jones index falling 1 per cent and the technology-focused Nasdaq off 0.5 per cent.
Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin is above $US98,000.
The Aussie dollar is trading around US63.94c.
