A cruise liner passenger has died while swimming off Mystery Island

A passenger on a cruise ship that left Sydney has died while he was swimming in Vanuatu.

A passenger on board a cruise from Sydney to Vanuatu has died while swimming off Mystery Island.

The man died on May 20, five days into the 12-day trip on board Carnival Splendor.

“Carnival Cruise Line is deeply saddened by the death of a guest on Mystery Island, following what appears to be a medical situation whilst swimming,” the company said in a statement.

”Our Care Team are supporting the guest’s family along with other guests during this difficult time.”

Last month, Australian man Warwick Tollemache fell from the Quantum of the Seas ship travelling from Brisbane to Hawaii.

The US Coast Guard suspended its search for Mr Tollemache on is family revealed their devastation through a statement.

“Our family is heartbroken at the loss of our beloved Warwick,” they said.

“He was a kind, beautiful, and gentle soul who was adored by everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed.”
