The girlfriend of an Australian who fell overboard a cruise ship has revealed the pair’s last conversation.

A Brisbane man who fell overboard a Hawaii-bound cruise ship has been remembered by friends and family as a “kind, beautiful and gentle soul” after the search for the missing Australian was suspended.

Warwick Tollemache, 35, was holidaying with his mother Mandy Tollemache on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Quantum of the Seas when he fell overboard 1400km south of Hawaii on Wednesday.

After the official search for his was called off on Friday, his family came to terms with their immeasurable loss.

His girlfriend has said she is “just devastated” after the decision was made.

“They should have kept looking – I don’t understand why they stopped the search,” Celine La Roche told the Courier Mail.

She then revealed a heartbreaking reveal, saying the pair had spoken in the morning before the tragedy and were making plans for another trip.

“We were talking in the morning (before the tragedy), we were making plans for another trip,” Ms La Roche said.

“We were cruising in the South Pacific last month and I was going to move in with him.

“He told me we were going to go to France to meet my family and cruise on the Mediterranean.

“I was still hoping until I heard they’d stopped the search and now… he could still be alive in the middle of nowhere.

She says she won’t have closure until they find him.

His partner, Celina La Roche, posted on social media how she’ll miss him. “I love you, always have and always will. RIP my love,” she wrote.

“What if he just hit his arm or his leg and just had a broken limb?”

“Maybe he’s just injured?”

His family revealed their devastation through a statement.

“Our family is heartbroken at the loss of our beloved Warwick,” they said. .

“He was a kind, beautiful, and gentle soul who was adored by everyone who knew him.

“He will be deeply missed.

“We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult time. Thank you for your understanding.”

His partner, Ms La Roche, also posted on social media how she’ll miss him.

“I love you, always have and always will. RIP my love,” she wrote.

The ship departed Brisbane on April 12 and was sailing through the Pacific Ocean near the island of Honolulu when Mr Tollemache was reported missing.

The ship was two days out of its scheduled arrival in Hawaii.

“The ship’s crew immediately launched a search and rescue operation and is working closely with local authorities,” Quantum of the Seas said in a statement on Thursday.

The cruise ship stayed in the area for a couple of hours before handing over the search to an aerial search team.

The US Coast Guard and the US Navy worked together to search for Mr Tollemache before suspending the search after consulting with Mr Tollemache’s family and local Australian consular officials.
