A second person died after a ute left the New England Highway at Pinelands.
Paramedics were called to the crash about 1.30pm
The sole occupant, a 34-year-old male, suffered critical injuries.
Sadly, he died at the scene.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Lowe said the two incidents brought the consequences of the Fatal Five into focus as we head into the Christmas holiday period.
“Fatal crashes are something we do not like to see,” he said.
“They are taxing for emergency service as we have to deal with the emotional fallout,” he said.
Sgt Lowe urged all motorists to slow down, drive to the conditions, obey the speed limit and keep their focus on the road and not their phones.
Police from the Forensic Crash Unit will investigate both incident.
Sgt Lowe urged anyone with information about the crashes to phone Policelink on 131 444.
