A DRUG dealer walked out of the Toowoomba Supreme Court this week with a jail sentence hanging over her head.
If Cindy-Jay Margaret Draper commits another drug offence in the next four years she will be returned to custody to serve at least part of a three-year jail sentence.
On Tuesday, the court heard Draper, 33, trafficked in a range of drugs, including methamphetamine, cannabis, LSD and GHB.
Crown Prosecutor Shontelle Petrie said Draper sold the drugs over a three-week period, in July 2019.
“Ms Draper had access to large quantities of methamphetamine,” she said.
“She made 16 actual supplies and the largest was 1.75g.”
“Ms draper also outlaid significant money.
“She was willing to pay $1200 to purchase a quarter ounce of methamphetamine and on one occasion she talked about purchasing two ounces.”
The court heard Draper was keen to grow her business and offered to look after repeat customers with discounts.
Acting in her defence, Barrister Issac Munsie said Draper had a difficult life, punctuated by violence.
He downplayed Draper’s illicit career goals.
“Her offending is best considered low-level,” he said.
“Despite the prosecution’s claim of lofty ambitions, the offending was amateurish.”
Justice Thomas Bradley ordered head sentence of three years in jail, suspended for four years after Draper pleaded guilty to 10 offences, including drug trafficking.
