A man accused of setting alight another man outside a Toowoomba hotel has had his case returned to the city’s Magistrates Court.
Yves William David Greenhill, 26, is accused of getting into an argument with 26-year-old Jordan Moore outside The Stock Hotel about 9.50pm, September 13, 2023, during which Mr Moore allegedly had fuel splashed on him before he was set alight.
Mr Moore staggered into the hotel seeking help and was taken to Toowoomba Hospital with “non-life-threatening” injuries before being flown to the Royal Brisbane Hospital burns unit where he was intubated.
Mr Greenhill was arrested and taken into custody a week after the alleged incident and has remained in custody since.
He has not as yet been required to enter any pleas to a charge of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm arising from the alleged incident or to charges arising from his arrest including obstructing police and possessing a knife in a public place.
Mr Greenhill was not required to be in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday, February 16, when his case was mentioned but was represented by Bouchier Khan Lawyers director Nathan Bouchier.
Mr Bouchier said he was still waiting for some police evidence including the statement from the doctor at the burns unit.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Julia Wheaton told the court police had been chasing up the doctor’s report and their would be further contact with the hospital after the day’s court proceedings.
Magistrate Clare Kelly remanded Mr Greenhill in custody and adjourned the case for mention back in the same court on March 15.
