Police claim the then 30-year-old killed fellow Warwick man Mark Ireland with a “long-bladed weapon” during an altercation at a Hope St, Warwick, home in September 2020.

Mr Watts was not required to be in court for the mention of his matter on Wednesday but was represented by his barrister Jessica Goldie who told the court some matters pertaining to the case were still being discussed with the Crown.

Ms Goldie said should those matters be resolved it was possible a trial could be heard in the November sittings of the Supreme Court at Toowoomba but it was more likely the matter would be put over to February 2024.

The trial was estimated to run for about five days, she said.

Justice Susan Brown adjourned the case to the next call-over of Supreme Court matters in November.
