A court heard after a Toowoomba woman who stole a puppyfailed to provide the animal with food and water.
At the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday morning, April 15, Trixie Ann Karoline McMahon pleaded guilty to two charges relating to the incident – stealing, and breaching a duty of care to an animal.
The court heard the young mother stole the dog from Leanne McCauley at Glenvale on December 24, 2023.
During McMahon’s arraignment, Magistrate Clare Kelly said the following day, December 25, McMahon still had the puppy.
“You were in charge of that puppy and you breached your duty of care by not taking reasonable steps to provide that puppy with food and water,” Ms Kelly said.
More details on the crime will be heard in court when McMahon is sentenced.
McMahon’s sentence was adjourned to give her time to inquire whether or not she may be illegible to have the matter transferred to Murri Court.
An update will next be provided to the court on, April 22.
