A 33-YEAR-OLD man who not only had sex with a 15-year-old girl but supplied her with meth has been handed a three-year jail sentence.

William Brett Green claimed he had entered into a sexual relationship with the girl, who had been staying with him and his then girlfriend in early 2020, believing she was 18 years old.

However, even when he discovered she was 15, he had again engaged in consensual sex with the teen, Toowoomba Supreme Court heard.

The teenager had also sent nude photographs of herself to Green, and the images were found on his mobile phone when police searched his home on July 28, 2020.

Crown prosecutor Ellen Fletcher said Green had also supplied meth to another minor who was over 16.

Messages found on his phone showed Green had on seven occasions supplied drugs to others and on three other occasions offered to supply.

The police search had also found a used syringe, clip seal bags with small amounts of drug, a set of nunchaku and a Yamaha motorcycle that had been reported stolen, Ms Fletcher told the court.

Green, who had served 323 days pre-sentence custody, pleaded guilty to unlawful carnal knowledge of a child under 16, three counts of supplying dangerous drugs to a minor, seven counts of supplying dangerous drugs, possessing child exploitation material, possessing drug utensils and possessing a weapon.

His barrister Shane MacDonald said his client upon release from jail intended moving back out west and re-engaging with his children.

Justice Martin Burns was scathing in his condemnation of Green.

“You were more than twice her age when you took advantage of her,” he told Green.

“You preyed on her and took advantage of her.

“This is conduct which is predatory, and for that you should be ashamed.”

However, accepting Green had worked hard on rehabilitation while in custody, Justice Burns sentenced him to three years in jail but, declaring the 323 days as time served, ordered the term be suspended as of August 3 after having served 12 months and be released on two years probation.
