Police have charged Toowoomba man Blake Mathew Talbot with using the internet to groom a young person.

Officers allege Mr Talbot used a carriage service to groom a person under the age of 16 sometime between January 2024 and March 2024.

Police also charged the 20-year-old with an additional 10 offences, which allegedly related to Mr Talbot failing to comply with his reporting conditions.

The matters were mentioned before Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 7, where he was represented by acting duty lawyer Matt Gemmell who said although the matter had been before the court for some time, Mr Talbot was seeking another adjournment.

“I have personally seen the emails he has communicated with (legal) grants in order to have his (funding) facilitated,” he said.

He said Mr Talbot sent the email to Legal Aid Queensland a week before he was due to appear, and responded to their request a day prior.

“He’s simply… waiting to hear back,” he said.

“I seek an adjournment to the 11th of June.”

Magistrate Kyna Morice said she was minded to grant a further adjournment given the steps Mr Talbot had taken to advance the matter.

Mr Talbot’s bail was enlarged.
