Tina Kathleen Hazard has murder charge adjourned by new lawyers after appearing in Toowoomba court

The 36-year-old charged with murder arising from the death of Thor Morgan has had her case adjourned again. Here’s the latest:

New lawyers for a Toowoomba woman charged with murder have had the matter adjourned while they consider the direction in which the case should proceed.

Tina Kathleen Hazard, 36, is charged with murder arising from the shooting death of 25-year-old Thor Morgan who police claim was shot while driving on Ruthven St near Downlands College in the early hours of March 15, 2022.

Remarkably, Mr Morgan staggered back to his girlfriend’s home nearby in Harlaxton from where an ambulance was called and he was taken to Toowoomba Hospital before being transferred to a Brisbane hospital with a bullet still lodged in his brain.

Although Mr Morgan seemed to be recovering from his injuries, he relapsed and died in hospital in May 2022.

Ms Hazard and co-accused Lachlan Mark Freund, 25, are each charged with murder and associated charges arising from the alleged shooting.

Neither has as yet been required to enter any pleas to their respective charges and both remain in custody.

Solicitor Chris Neville, of Condon Charles Lawyers, told Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday, January 19, that Ms Hazard’s case had been transferred to his firm in December 2023 and he had the police brief of evidence.

Barrister Scott Lynch was engaged in the matter and they would be seeking a conference with Ms Hazard to decide on whether a committal hearing with cross examination was required, he said.

Magistrate Louise Shephard therefore agreed to adjourn the case for committal mention back in the same court on February 23 and remanded Ms Hazard in custody with her appearance excused at that next mention in court.

Mr Freund’s charge of murder has already been taken up to the Supreme Court by way of registry committal.
