A 33-YEAR-OLD accused of killing his mother-in-law Krishna Chopra who was found dead at her Crows Nest home has had his case adjourned in Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

Simon Jones was not required to be in court for the brief mention of his case on Friday and has been held in custody since his arrest on a charge of murder.

He has not been required as yet to enter any plea to the charge and no particulars of the alleged offence have yet been aired in court.

Krishna Chopra’s body was found inside her Crows Nest home by a friend in January 2022.

Mr Jones’ solicitor Nathan Bouchier, of Bouchier Khan Lawyers, told the city court on Friday that he had received a partial police brief of evidence but some material remained outstanding and he sought a two-week adjournment so that material could be confirmed with the prosecution.

Ms Chopra’s body was found by a friend in her Park Road home in Crows Nest in January.

Police believe she may have been killed some time around January 21, some 10 days before her body was found.

61-year-old Krishna Chopra was found dead in her Crow's Next home on Monday, January 31, 2022.

While investigating police have not divulged their actual theories into how the 61-year-old died, police in the month after her body was found appealed for public help in identifying a metal bar which was allegedly found during a ground search near Ms Chopra’s home on Park Road.

Police investigating the murder have since confirmed the autopsy results claimed Ms Chopra had died from severe head trauma.

Toowoomba detectives want to speak with anyone who recognises this metal bar. A bar similar to it was located near the home of Krishna Chopra, a 61-year-old woman who was allegedly murdered in her Crows Next home sometime around January 21 and 22, 2022.

Police had not ruled out other persons being involved in the alleged murder and are still calling on anyone with relevant information to come forward.

If you have any information for Investigators about the torsion bar phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Policelink on 131 444.

Acceding to Mr Bouchier’s request for an adjournment, Acting Magistrate Lisa O’Neill adjourned the case for mention back in the same court on June 3.

Ms O’Neill formally remanded Jones in custody and excused appearance at the June 3 court mention.
