A pilot has walked away uninjured and his plane has been found after he was forced to make a hard landing in bushland north of Killarney in the Southern Downs.
At about 9.26am on March 18, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority was alerted that Air Traffic Control had received a mayday call from a recreational aircraft in the Southern Downs.
AMSA was advised that the aircraft had experienced distress and initiated a forced landing. In a media statement an AMSA spokesperson said the authority responded by tasking a LifeFlight helicopter from Toowoomba to the scene.
Police were also alerted an initiated a ground search.
Meanwhile the pilot was able to walk to a nearby property on Condamine River Rd at The Head.
Police then located the aircraft in a good condition about 15km northeast of Killarney.
AMSA understands the pilot was not injured during the forced landing.
