Police suspect fire that destroyed cars at at Diesel Care Toowoomba was deliberately lit

Police have launched an arson investigation after several vehicles parked at a Toowoomba business were destroyed in broad daylight.

Police are treating a fire that destroyed several vehicles at a Toowoomba business as suspicious.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said crews were called to reports of a fire at Diesel Care Toowoomba’s Pechey St workshop about 10.30am, Sunday.

They arrived to find three vehicles reportedly “well alight”.

It is understood someone cut a hole in the workshop’s fence shortly before the fire, while a witness described seeing someone flee the scene shortly after.

Fire crews found no one on scene and no injuries were reported.

They had the scene under control within minutes.

Police declined to comment on allegations that someone was seen running from the site, but confirmed they have opened an arson investigation.
