Police direct Tara couple into mandatory quarantine after border breach
A Darling Downs couple sprung trying flee from police manning the Queensland-New South Wales border were arrested and sent to Brisbane to quarantine after a shocking border breach.

A Tara couple has been fined $9,924 after they blew past police manning the Queensland-New South Wales border at Texas.
Darling Downs City Patrol Group Acting-Inspector Greg Wheeler said the couple rolled up the border checkpoint about 10.30pm on Saturday from the News South Wales side.
“The vehicle has suddenly driven off into NSW and was unable to be located by police,” he said.
The same vehicle travelled back into Queensland, crossing the border checkpoint at speed about 5.15am on Sunday.
“It failed to stop when directed by police,” Insp Wheeler said.
Police tracked the vehicle and its occupants to Tara.
A 34-year-old old Tara man was issued with several fines including $827 for evading police, $827 for failing to stop and $4135 for a public health breach.
A 19year-old old Tara woman was also issued with $4135 also for failing to comply with the chief health officer’s direction.
Both were directed to 14 days hotel quarantine in Brisbane.
