NSW Police arrest one man in connection to alleged stolen car from Wilsonton Heights found in Inverell

Police are still searching for two men who allegedly fled from officers investigating a suspected stolen car that was taken from a Wilsonton Heights address and found more than 300km away.

A man has been charged in New South Wales, with two more on the run, in connection to the alleged theft and unlawful use of a vehicle stolen from a Toowoomba suburb and found three days later more than 300km away.

Toowoomba CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said between July 16 and 17 a Mazda CX3 was allegedly stolen from a Wilsonton Heights address, which was then allegedly linked to a number of property offences in the Goondiwindi area in the days afterwards.

About 5.20pm Tuesday NSW Police located the vehicle in a driveway of a property on Cunningham Place, Inverell, some 300km south of Toowoomba.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said as officers approached the vehicle three people fled on foot but after a short pursuit a 22-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody where he was charged with three counts of being carried in conveyance without consent of vehicle’s owner and one count of dishonestly obtain advantage by deception.

The man was refused police bail to appear in Moree Local Court on Monday, September 5.

“Investigations are continuing in respect to the offences committed of the occupants of the vehicle while it was in Queensland,” Senior Sergeant McCusker said.

The NSW Police spokeswoman said inquiries are continuing to locate the two outstanding people.

In unrelated matters police inquiries were still continuing to located a stolen 2014 Holden Colorado ute (605 UTY) stolen from a North Toowoomba address Tuesday night, with a white 2020 Mitsubishi ASX wagon (817AX2) was stolen from a Dignan Street home in Harristown on Sunday still outstanding.
