Middle Ridge man to face court after guns seized in raids

The man is one of 22 people to face court in the coming weeks after police raided homes across the city, searching for drugs and guns.

A 46-year-old Middle Ridge man is one of 23 people police charged with a range of drugs and weapons offence after they kicked in doors at properties across Toowoomba,

The man is charged with three counts of unlawful possession of weapons, with police alleging he was in possession of a sawn-off shot gun, silencer, and baton unlawful possession of ammunition and two counts of possess dangerous drugs.

He is expected to appear before Toowoomba Magistrates Court on September 16.

Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said police raided 22 homes and arrested 23 people as they targeted a drug network operating in the community.

“These search warrants were formulated from a combination of Crimestoppers information from the community as well as targeting investigative strategies implemented by police,” he said.

Police seized eight illegal firearms along with quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis and GBH.

In total 23 people were charged with a total of 76 offences to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court in the coming weeks.

“Police encourage anyone with information in relation to persons dealing or possessing the illegal firearms and illegal drugs to contact Crimestoppers and provide us what you know in an effort to make our community a safer place to live and conduct business,” Senior Sergeant McCusker said.
