Man, woman arrested in Leyburn after Darling Downs police track them in alleged stolen car

Police are waiting for a man to sober up before they charge him with a raft of offences related the alleged theft of vehicles in the Darling Downs.

A man and woman will face Toowoomba Magistrates Court Thursday charged with a raft of weapons and drug offences after they were caught in possession of two allegedly stolen vehicles.

Darling Downs police arrested the pair after they were tracked in the allegedly stolen vehicles through Wednesday morning to the Leyburn Airfield about 11.30am.

A QPS spokeswoman said at least one of the vehicles was stolen from Millmerran on Wednesday and police found the vehicle parked near Leyburn Airfield

No one was physically injured but Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were called to assist as the man was reported to be heavily drug affected.

Both vehicles have been seized for forensic examination and detectives from the Property Crime Unit are investigating.

A 33-year-old NSW woman was charged with one count each of bringing stolen goods into Queensland, unlawful possession of weapons category A, B or M, authority required to possess explosives (firearms ammunition), enter dwelling and commit two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 36-year-old NSW man was charged with one count each of bringing stolen goods into Queensland, unlawful possession of weapons category A, B or M, authority required to possess explosives (firearms ammunition), enter dwelling and commit two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
