A man is recovering with minor injuries after he was robbed in Newtown in the early hours of Tuesday.
Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said the 38-year-old man withdrew cash from a Clifford Gardens ATM about 3.30am before he was followed home by two men.
“He observed one man in the area who was known to him,” Sgt McCusker said.
“He walked to a Betty Street address where he was assaulted by two males, one of whom he knew.”
The offenders stole a quantity of cash and the man’s mobile phone.
Police located two men at a Hillside Street address about an hour later and took them into custody.
They have not been charged, but Sgt McCusker said they are assisting police with their inquiries.
The victim was treated at the Toowoomba Hospital for minor injuries and released a few hours later.
