Karleeah Marie Jensen, accused of shooting 16-year-old girl with sawn-off shotgun at city hotel, appears in court on unrelated offence

A teenage woman accused of firing a shortened shotgun inside a hotel room, seriously injuring a 16-year-old girl and her mother, has had an unrelated charge put before Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

Karleeah Marie Jensen was not required to be in court when a charge of receiving tainted property against her was mentioned on Friday.

The 18-year-old mother of one has been held in custody since her arrest after the alleged shooting incident at a hotel in Annand St in Toowoomba’s CBD on the afternoon of February 14.

Emergency services were called to the hotel after it was reported that a teenage girl had sustained a serious gunshot wound to her arm.

The 16-year-old Wyreema girl was airlifted to hospital in Brisbane where medical teams worked to save her arm.

The girl’s 37-year-old mother sustained relatively superficial wounds when she was struck by some pellets when the firearm was allegedly discharged.

Police at the time of the incident said all persons involved were known to each other.

Ms Jensen has not as yet been required to enter any pleas to the charges which include dangerous conduct with a weapon, grievous bodily harm, unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of explosives, unlawfully wounding another person and the unrelated charge of receiving tainted property.

Her solicitor Alysha Jacobsen, of Bouchier Khan Lawyers, asked the court on Friday to adjourn the receiving charge over to join up with the weapons matters due for mention next month.

Acting Magistrate Kay Ryan therefore remanded Ms Jensen in custody and adjourned all matters to April 12 for mention back in the same court.
