A woman who spat at a store employee that tried to get her to pay for an item she stole has faced court.

Jamie Confaloniere, 28, appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to public nuisance and unauthorised dealing with shop goods, as well as unrelated charges of assault and assaulting a watch-house officer.

The court was told that on April 15 this year Confaloniere spat at an employee of IGA Hooper Centre after they tried to confront her for stealing a drink.

The court was also told Confaloniere punched her roommate on May 29, and assaulted an officer of Toowoomba Watch-house on June 6.

Confaloniere’s solicitor Guy Sara told the court his client was diagnosed with bipolar when she was 14, and was the mother of two young sons.

The court was told a prison psychologist recommended that community support was necessary as part of any sentence imposed.

Magistrate Roger Stark handed Confaloniere a three month jail term, suspended for 18 months, as well as an 18-month probation order. Convictions were recorded.
