An accused paedophile former doctor facing 137 child sex charges, has had his matters mentioned before the Toowoomba Magistrates Court.
Joseph Lee Smith, who is currently held in custody, has been charged with 41 counts of grooming a child under 16, eight counts of using the internet to procure a child under 16, aggravated supply of a drug to minor and rape, was not required to be in court for the brief mention of his matters.
Smith, 48, was arrested at his Toowoomba home with police claiming he befriended an underage boy in Victoria via Instagram and allegedly had the boy send him images of him dancing naked.
He also faces 56 charges of failing to comply with reporting obligations, resulting from prior convictions.
He has not been required to enter any pleas to the charges.
His legal representatives have been going through the large body of police evidence and the case was expected to go by registry committal up to the District Court.
Magistrate Kay Ryan remanded Smith in custody and adjourned the case to January.
