Emergency services have responded to the second serious crash in the Toowoomba region on the one day after a car hit a pole north of the city.

Queensland Fire Department crews and Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics rushed to the scene of the crash along Prospect Terrace in Highfields about 4.20pm Monday after a car reportedly left the road and hit a light pole.

A QAS spokeswoman said one person has suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.

Earlier in the day a 77-year-old Darling Downs man died after his vehicle left the road and hit a tree on Connolly Rd at Geham.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and anyone with information is urged to contact police.
