A Gatton man has been disqualified from driving for two years after he was caught 50km/h over the speed limit blowing off steam after an argument with his partner.

Dylan Lee Robert Finlayson was stopped by police that had been conducting traffic enforcement along Atkinson Dam Road at about 8.30am on September 7 this year.

The court was told police saw a blue Holden Commodore driving towards them, and it was detected travelling at 152km/h in a signposted 100km/h zone.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Narelle Lowe said officers were able to catch up to the 24-year-old, who told police he was “letting out some frustration” after having an argument with his partner.

The court was told Finlayson’s licence had been disqualified after he was ordered off the road in August for driving unlicensed.

In Gatton Magistrates Court Finlayson pleaded guilty and was convicted of disobeying the speed limit and driving without a licence.

Magistrate Howard Osborne fined Finlayson $850, and he was disqualified from driving for two and a half years.
