An early morning Sunday session at Toowoomba nightclub Society came to a sobering end for a sales representative who was busted by police with a small bag of cocaine.
Police prosecutor Kinsley Weir told Toowoomba Magistrates Court that about 3am on February 26 police became aware of an alleged drug deal at the club which resulted in officers detaining Arabella Rose Thun for a search.
Ms Kinsley said officers located 0.05 grams of white powder alongside a hard straw in her handbag.
When questioned, Thun told officers she didn’t know what it was, that it was a friend’s, and she didn’t use drugs.
The court was told the 22-year-old lived in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast and was in Toowoomba visiting family.
Legal Aid Queensland solicitor Phil Stainton said the sales representative was working towards finishing a university degree and asked for no conviction to be recorded.
Magistrate Louise Shephard said Thun was in Toowoomba court in July 2021 for possessing drugs, and if she was caught with drugs again, she would not have the benefit of a conviction not being recorded.
Thun was fined $650 and no conviction was recorded.
