A Darling Downs man could be a free man by Christmas after he was jailed, busted with 22g of methamphetamine.
Brandon Edward Mailman, 32, fronted Toowoomba Supreme Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to one count of supplying a dangerous drug and one count of possessing items used in relation to supplying a dangerous drug being clip seal bags, rubber bands and sandwich bags.
The father of three was charged on October 23 2022 alongside a co-accused and had so far spent 27 days in custody.
Justice Muir said while Mailman had a lengthy criminal history this was his first serious offence after he was previously sentenced for public nuisance, dangerous operations of a vehicle and failures to appear for this case.
She also noted this was Mailman’s first time behind bars.
Mailman’s lawyer told the court his client did not consider himself a drug addict and took methamphetamine in a social setting.
He also said Mailman had the support of his family who were sitting in the back of the court during sentencing.
Justice Muir warned Mailman that methamphetamine had “a devastating impact on the individual and the community” and sentenced him to two and a half years jail, with a non-parole period of eight months.
The 27 days was considered time served.
