Christopher Mark Grosser, accused of attempted murder of a woman and setting fire to a house, faces Toowoomba Magistrates Court

The 38-year-old sustained serious burns in the fire but now has had his charges set down for a committal hearing with cross examination.

A Toowoomba man charged with attempted murder and arson arising from a house fire in Darling Heights is to have his matters put to a committal hearing with cross examination.

Christopher Mark Grosser sustained very serious burns in the fire that gutted a Quinlan Court house just after midnight February 13, 2021.

The 38-year-old is on bail and in the care of his family in Brisbane and was not required to attend court on Friday when his matters were mentioned.

The court was told the police prosecution had consented to a pre-trial committal hearing at which some witnesses would be available for cross examination.

Christopher Mark Grosser has been charged with attempted murder and arson arising from the fire at a Quinlan Court address on February 13, 2021.

Grosser was initially held in custody in hospital where he was taken for treatment for burns after being found by emergency services near the burning home about 2am that day.

A 43-year-old woman found out the front of the Quinlan Court home was also taken to hospital with serious head and torso wounds.

It was believed she had been stabbed but had since made a good physical recovery.

Grosser has not as yet been called upon to enter any pleas to the charges which include attempted murder, arson, and three counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

No details of the police allegations have as yet been aired in open court.

Magistrate Clare Kelly remanded Grosser on bail and set the matters down for committal hearing with cross examination on January 23, 2023.
