Christian Bryan Allen convicted in Toowoomba Magistrates Court of wilful damage

While he only had a ‘cloudy recollection’ of what happened, CCTV captured a Toowoomba man’s vandalism rampage after a night on the drink.

After a drunken night out and waking up in Toowoomba Hospital with a lacerated calf, a 21-year-old has faced the music for his antics.

Between 2pm on February 6 and 1am February 7 this year police received information two shop windows had been broken in Ruthven Street, Toowoomba Magistrates Court was told.

CCTV footage showed Christian Bryan Allen kicking in a window of The Met Hotel and I-Ride Bikes.

After speaking to police on March 15 Allen said he had a “cloudy recollection” of that night, and had woken up in hospital with a leg injury, police prosecutor Alister Windsor said.

Allen pleaded guilty to two charges of wilful damage in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Allen’s solicitor Amber Acreman told the court her client accepts what happened and had “significantly” reduced his alcohol intake since the incident.

“He is embarrassed for his conduct,” she said.

Magistrate Howard Osborne fined Allen $900, with the convictions recorded.
