A young Toowoomba man who was busted with more than 100g of cannabis under his bed alongside clip seal bags, said the drug was for personal use.
At the Toowoomba Magistrate Court on Tuesday, October 3, Corey Grant Western-Frost’s solicitor said despite a large amount of the drug being found, Frost used it for sleep and anxiety.
Acting duty lawyer Brad Skuse said although it may seem unusual, it was cheaper to buy the product in bulk.
Mr Skuse said since being charged, Frost was trying to obtain the drug legally.
The court heard when police raided the former catholic schoolboy’s home on August 19, there was a freshly used bong on a table, which was crafted from a Gatorade bottle.
Police also located a further 5g of cannabis and a grinder, however the court heard when officers questioned Frost about why he had so many small clip-seal bags with the paraphernalia, he exercised his right to silence.
Frost pleaded guilty to possessing 125g of cannabis, drug utensils, and items used in the commission of a crime, and was fined $500.
No conviction was recorded.
