The legal proceedings over Bruce Lehrmann’s rape charges have again been delayed as lawyers argue over the release of documents.
High-profile lawyer Zali Burrows took over Mr Lehrmann’s case after he sacked his previous counsel in March.
In April, Ms Burrows made an application to the court for the release of material held by the prosecution that had not been supplied to Mr Lehrmann’s former solicitor.
That material included pages from a Cellebrite report detailing the contents of the complainant’s phone, along with nine witness statements and some CCTV footage.
A hearing to decide the application was set down for June 20, however the parties were not able to make that deadline.
At a brief mention in Toowoomba District Court on Monday, Judge Dennis Lynch agreed to push the hearing back.
“The applicant to file all the material by June 13, the respondent to file the material by June 20,” he said.
“The hearing date for June 20 is vacated, instead the matter is listed for hearing on July 25.”
Mr Lehrmann is charged with two counts of rape arising from an incident in Toowoomba in 2021.
The Crown alleges Mr Lehrmann and the complainant met in the Toowoomba nightclub and were drinking together.
It is alleged the pair caught a taxi back to the home of a school friend of Lehrmann where they got into bed together and had consensual sex, a previous hearing was told.
The hearing also heard that during the night, they consumed more cocaine after Lehrmann discovered it in her bra.
The Crown alleges that after the pair fell asleep, the complainant woke to find Mr Lehrmann having unprotected sex with her.
Mr Lehrmann, 29, was committed to stand trial in July 2024.
