A court has been told a sleepover turned bloody when two Toowoomba dads got into a street fight.
Toowoomba Magistrates Court was told the fight started after Bradley James Galvin received a concerning message from his eldest child who was with his other siblings at a sleepover at North Toowoomba in December 2022.
The boy told his dad a man, the victim, was acting aggressively and had threatened Galvin with violence.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Alister Windsor said Galvin called the man, and after the pair argued on the phone, Galvin left to collect his children.
Senior Constable Windsor said that when Galvin got to the house at 9.30pm, another argument ensued and Galvin punched the man in the face.
Another man was assaulted by Galvin when he attempted to separate the pair.
Solicitor Chelsea Saldumbide did not read her submission into the record, but noted her client had paid the victims a considerable amount of money in compensation.
She also said if a conviction was recorded, the 36-year-old’s tow truck company would suffer.
At Toowoomba Magistrate Court on Thursday, August 31, Galvin pleaded guilty to two counts of common assault after police dropped and downgraded a number of charges.
Senior Constable Windsor said police offered no evidence in regards to a former alleged charge of entering a dwelling with intent, and causing bodily harm while armed.
Magistrate Louise Shephard said given Galvin’s children’s distress, his emotions were heightened and he lost control.
She said she would not record a conviction, noting his convictions from the District Court had expired.
He was fined $950.
