Police have charged a 27-year-old man with dangerous driving after a fatal crash in Thargomindah that killed a beloved grazier.

Investigators will allege the Thargomindah man was intoxicated when he was driving a Toyota Landcruiser utility on Darling Street shortly after midnight on June 11.

It will be alleged Scott Todd, 38, fell from the tray, suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.

He was a father of two girls and a boy and ran sheep, goats and cattle at Brigalow Downs, south of Bollon.

In the past, Mr Todd was a vocal advocate for young farming families.

He spoke at length with AAP about the need for resilience and a rethink of how the Australian Government administers drought assistance.

The 27-year-old Thargomindah man, who was uninjured in the accident, has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

He has been bailed to appear in the Cunnamulla Magistrates Court on July 6.

Police have asked anyone who witnessed the fall or who has dashcam footage of the moments leading up to it to phone Policelink on 131 444.
