Bartholomew Peter Dornbusch is charged with two counts of attempted murder of police

Police say the man went on a rampage while behind the wheel of a stolen truck before allegedly pinning an officer against a car, causing serious injuries.

An Oakey man charged with two counts of attempted murder after allegedly ramming a police vehicle with a truck has had his case adjourned again in Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

Bartholomew Peter Dornbusch, 45, is accused of ramming two police officers trying to arrest him from an allegedly stolen truck near Meringandan West on May 24, 2023.

One officer, Senior Constable Steven Ingerson, was allegedly pinned between the truck and an unmarked police vehicle and sustained serious injuries from which he has since recovered.

Police further allege Mr Dornbusch fled the scene before crashing into another police vehicle at the Goombungee rubbish tip nearby.

He has been held in custody since his arrest shortly after the alleged incidents and has not yet been required to enter any pleas to the charges which include two counts of attempted murder, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and endangering the safety of a person in a vehicle with intent, all arising from the alleged incidents of that day

Mr Dornbusch is also charged with a string of unrelated matters including possessing dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of weapons, burglary, fraud, stealing, receiving and drug driving.

In total the 45-year-old is facing about 35 charges.

His lawyer Ryan McCullough, of MacDonald Law, told the court on Thursday, February 15, that Toowoomba barrister David Jones KC had been briefed in the matter but there was a lot of material to go through and they were working through that file.

Once completed they would then have to go through the material with Mr Dornbusch and so Mr McCullough asked for a lengthier than usual adjournment.

Magistrate Clare Kelly therefore remanded Mr Dornbusch in custody and adjourned all charges for mention back in the same court on March 28.
