Abrupt halt assault case of lawyer Joel Dale Stower and sports man Herman Paul Poleka Ene
An update has been provided to the Toowoomba court on an alleged assault case involving a local lawyer and former boxer.

An alleged serious assault case, involving a Toowoomba lawyer and sporting identity, has been moved from the Toowoomba court’s jurisdiction due to a conflict of interest.
In early 2023, police charged former boxer turned TRL coach Herman Paul Poleka Ene, 28, and lawyer Joel Dale Stower, 30, with assault occasioning bodily harm.
The co-accused are alleged to have assaulted another man, and they are both being represented by Skuse Graham Criminal Lawyers.
Magistrate Kay Philipson put a stop to the pair’s review hearing at the Toowoomba Magistrate Court on October 19.
“It has been brought to my attention who one of these defendants is,” Magistrate Philipson said in regards to Mr Stower.
“We can’t run that (review) here.”
Mr Stower is an associate O’Neill Family Law - an award-winning Toowoomba firm.
The court heard police prosecution at the Ipswich Magistrate Court would accept carriage of the case.
Ms Philipson asked the men’s solicitor, Brad Skuse, if Mr Stower’s legal practice operated at Ipswich.
The Skuse Graham Criminal Lawyers co-managing partner told the court the firm did not have ties to that jurisdiction and there was no issue with the case being transferred.
The case was set down for a mention before an Ipswich magistrate on November 2.
Ms Philipson enlarged Mr Stower’s and Mr Ene’s bail.
